How to Modify the Indent on Bulleted Lists

Word 2007
- On the Home Ribbon, Styles group, click on the dialogue launcher to bring up Styles Task Pane (Alt+Ctrl+Shift+S) (Figure 1).
- Scroll down the list until you find the built-in style, List Bullet (Figure 2).
- Click on the drop-down, select "Modify."
- Click on | Modify | Format | Paragraph.
- Adjust the bullet indent by modifying "Left indentation" (Figure 3).
- Adjust the text indent by modifying the "Hanging" setting under "Special".
- Click OK, then OK again. The List Bullet style in this document has been modified.
Word 2003
- Click on the Styles and Formatting button or select "Format-->Styles & Formatting" for the task pane to appear.
- Scroll down the list until you find the built-in style, List Bullet (Figure 4).
- Click on the drop-down, select "Modify."
- Click on | Modify | Format | Paragraph.
- Adjust the bullet indent by modifying "Left indentation" (Figure 5).
- Adjust the text indent by modifying the "Hanging" setting under "Special".
- Click OK, then OK again. The List Bullet style in this document has been modified.
