Have you ever received a document with a table that is too wide for the page?

Word Table Outside Margins

You try to change your paper orientation to landscape and change the column widths, but no matter what you do, nothing seems to solve the problem. There is a simple fix.

  1. Select the entire table.
  2. Right click | Table Properties.
  3. On the Table tab, change the Size Preferred width "Measure in:" to Percent.

    Format Word Tables

  4. Reduce "Preferred width" to 100.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Your table will readjust so that it is contained within the margins.
